So maybe now you realize who you nearly are. You’ve been sleeping, woke up dreaming. You took a bath. You stood in line. There with all the others, there with all of them, with all of who you are. You walked through the tube. You’re sitting in your seat. Stare out the window with all of them, with all of us, with all of you, merging and dissolving and carried away. And then there’s the liftoff. And then there’s the rapture – those clouds you love so much, those things you try to touch. Somewhere a fire’s burning out of control. Somewhere down there, he promises her the moon. They’re lying on the sand. She holds his shiny heart like sequins in her hands, now thrown away, now blown away. Somewhere down there birds fly over steeples. Ragged and glorious, they’re making holy every place they pass with just the breath of their wings. Somewhere down there they’re dreaming of a lost one – remembering a voice that struck like dawn. And somehow they go on. Somehow we go on. And they stand up on their chairs, And raise their arms and sing. They are carried away, all of them, all of us. And now you realize who you are.
Slow Boat 11:02
Slow Boat (Elizabeth Levett-Fortier, William E Gibson) We stepped off the gangway just before three Weighed anchor, but what time? Stopped Speechless and rhymes, how did we get on this vessel? Warm clouds, still water, Grey stillness, alone in the fog. Up late watching the rain come Can't say when I'll be home again. Standing here, so close to the side, imagine how easily I could glide. Each of us, slow in our progress, Sails ragged in early darkness. Probably time to lay myself down, sweet dream of putting my feet on the ground. I could almost howl into the wind. Foghorns rattle my bones once again. It's the way that they talk here, the things that they say, I'm losing my balance and slipping away. Can the water carry my voice on to you, Till morning comes on, the only thing true? The day will wake and shake its head I can remember the things that you said. Dreams merge, I wait for the dawn. Not going under, just moving along.

We would like to share two of our more contemplative, longer pieces. The two have in common a theme of travel, over time, through space, one country or world to the next. Each, though, has a distinct focus

Lotus Flow Opens marks return home after a long, tiring journey, as the self struggles to arrive

Slow Boat is an endless departure and journey, with no arrival in sight, a gradual abandonment of destination
