Returning home after many months, nights and days in faraway lands, set down this meditation on arrival, the spirit hovering still and fast, many miles above and away. Marcos added gravity and scintillation, piano, cymbals, diverse metals. Elizabeth wrote the tale that had gone untold, bringing eloquence and grace to a common event.

now blown away.

Somewhere down there birds fly over steeples.

Ragged and glorious,

they’re making holy every place

they pass with just the breath of their wings.

Somewhere down there they’re dreaming

of a lost one –

remembering a voice that struck like dawn.

And somehow they go on.

Somehow we go on.

And they stand up on their chairs,

And raise their arms and sing.

They are carried away, all of them, all of us.

And now you realize who you are.
